Is ironic the most abused word in the English language?

Even Alanis Morissette was called out for being too loose with the word in her 1995 hit “Ironic.” The critics were so sharp that Morissette was forced to explain that she wasn’t trying to make every lyric in the song “technically ironic.”

Superman is celebrating 75 years of publication. The creators’ estates are busy suing DC Comics for ownership of the iconic superhero. Superman is perhaps the most important comic character that spawned billions of dollars for both Marvel and DC comics of 75 years and counting.  DC is releasing a omnibus collection of the career of Superman. This is a perfect opportunity to begin collecting the adventures of the greatest hero ever created.  Superman: The Golden Age Omnibus Vol. 1 will be out just in time for the release of the new Superman movie coming out in early June.

The earliest adventures of Superman, from his 1938 debut through 1940, are collected for the first time together in one massive hardcover. In these early stories, Superman battles social injustice and political corruption, fighting for the common man. Includes the origin of Superman and the first appearances of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor.

While renovating his home, David Gonzalez, found a copy of Action Comic #1 behind his wall in his home in Minnesota.  An over enthused family member grabbed the comic and produced a tear that devalued the coveted comic book by $75, 000.  That is one family member that will not be coming over in the weekends.

“The owner, a humble and hardworking contractor, named Gonzales, has spent years tearing down old walls and putting up new ones for his home-renovation clients. He’s made a habit of leaving a quarter or dollar bill behind them, thinking that sometime in the future, someone will find his treasure and wonder who put it there. But the “hidden treasure” in the walls of the first home he’d ever purchased and renovated on his own yielded the most unusual find he could have imagined. When renovation began on the house, which was built in 1938, he and his crew started finding old newspapers from the 1930s used as insulation in the walls. But he also found a comic book, which stood out to him, because it had Superman on the cover. Curious, Gonzales looked up the comic book online-and discovered it was Action Comics 1-Superman’s first appearance.”

This is not your father’s Doctor Carol Marcus. Alice Eve’s underwear scene in Star Trek Into Darkness was deemed unnecessary by some critics and moviegoers.  Damon Lindelof  has publicly apologized  for the inclusion of the gratuitous barely clothed Doctor Carol Marcus.  The scene played no significant role in any of the story arcs in the movie.
