Taschen does it better than the original comic book publishing houses. This volume collects the first 20 issues of the Avengers. Better get some Charles Atlas muscles to read this big volume.

The first comic book marketed with a variant cover was the 1986 first issue of The Man of Steel, which featured two different covers by writer/artist John Byrne.
