I love it when food brands mash up with fashion houses to cook up something totally unexpected, and this one is a real hot potato. Aldi, the supermarket chain known for its no-nonsense bargains, has teamed up with London’s Agro Studio to serve up the Potato Jacket, a puffer coat that looks suspiciously like a baked spud fresh from the oven.
Equal parts silly and satisfying, this limited-edition creation is what Aldi calls “comfort food chic.” The outer shell is a perfectly seasoned shade of mottled brown, while the interior is lined with fluffy white fleece that screams “buttery softness.” It’s the sort of coat you’d slip into after a long day and immediately feel like you’re wrapped in your favorite carb.
The sleeves come with extendable brown mittens and shiny silver cuffs, cleverly mimicking the look of foil-wrapped potatoes. There’s even a detachable silver rain cover that doubles as a “tinfoil shield,” keeping you warm, dry, and slightly ridiculous in the best way possible. Aldi says the coat’s “baked-in warmth” will keep you toasty through the cold months, but you might want to resist the urge to top yourself with butter and bacon bits.

Flip it inside out, and suddenly you’re gleaming like a walking sheet of tinfoil, part baked potato and part human solar panel. Practical? Maybe not. Entertaining? Absolutely. Wearing the potato coat is like heading into battle dressed as a baked spud, perfectly camouflaged for action in a muddy field. Its mottled brown shell blends in with the terrain like tactical camouflage, while the shiny silver cuffs and foil-like rain cover glint like armor under enemy fire.
The collaboration celebrates the launch of Aldi’s Potato Season, a campaign rolling out just as temperatures drop and over two million ready-baked spuds hit store shelves between October and November.
“We know our customers love jacket potatoes, so launching this jacket made perfect sense,” said Julie Ashfield, Aldi UK’s chief commercial officer.
If you’re bold enough to wear this spud-tacular statement piece, you’ll need a pinch of courage and maybe a good sense of humor. A limited batch of the coats will be given away on Aldi’s social media channels. So grab your butter knife, it’s time to join the fashion fry line.
