Toy Story 5 Trailer Reveals Tech vs Toys Showdown

An all-new trailer and poster have just arrived for Toy Story 5, the next chapter in the beloved animated saga from Disney and Pixar. And this time, the biggest challenge facing the toys is not a new owner, a move, or a dusty attic. It is technology.

Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang find their purpose thrown into question when they encounter Lilypad, a sleek new tablet device voiced by Greta Lee. Unlike the toys, Lilypad does not believe in imagination powered by play. She is programmed with her own ideas about what is “best” for Bonnie, and her influence threatens to reshape playtime into something entirely different. The result is a playful but pointed clash between old-school imagination and modern digital convenience, raising a surprisingly timely question: what happens when screens start replacing stories?

The trailer also hints at one of the most emotional moments fans have been waiting for. After the heartfelt ending of Toy Story 4, where Woody chose a new path helping lost toys, he finally reunites with Buzz Lightyear. Their reunion promises both nostalgia and new tension as the toys band together to face a world that feels more complicated than ever. It is a reminder that growing up is not just something kids do. Toys evolve, too.

Joining returning fan favorites like Jessie are several imaginative new additions to the toy box. Craig Robinson voices Atlas, an endlessly cheerful GPS hippo toy who never stops giving directions. Shelby Rabara brings energy to Snappy, an excitable camera toy obsessed with capturing every moment. Scarlett Spears voices Bonnie, now an eight-year-old navigating a world filled with digital distractions. Mykal-Michelle Harris plays Blaze, an independent animal-loving kid who may connect with toys in unexpected ways. And Matty Matheson voices Dr. Nutcase, a hilariously paranoid toy convinced technology is out to get them all.

The returning lineup reads like a reunion of animated legends. John Ratzenberger returns as Hamm, Wallace Shawn reprises the ever-anxious Rex, and Blake Clark is back as Slinky Dog. Jeff Bergman and Anna Vocino return as Mr. Potato Head and Mrs. Potato Head, while Annie Potts once again voices Bo Peep.

Also returning are Bonnie Hunt as Dolly, Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly, John Hopkins as Mr. Pricklepants, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl, and Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom.

Leading the returning voice cast are Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, along with Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants and Tony Hale as Forky.

Beyond the laughs and heartfelt reunions, the film appears ready to explore a surprisingly modern theme: how imagination survives in a world filled with smart devices, constant notifications, and endless digital entertainment. If the trailer is any indication, the toys are about to discover that staying relevant in the 21st century might be their biggest adventure yet.
