The Art of Calvin and Hobbes

For ten years between 1985-1995, Calvin and Hobbes was king in still a thriving newspaper industry. The driving engine of the strip was originality and not merchandising as Peanuts was doing at the time. Unlike Gary Larson’s The Far Side, the endearing strip of Calvin and Hobbes still has that magic quality to it. There was a void left since the strip left, a few cartoonist got together and re-imagined the strip with their own unique style. See more>>

The strip captured the magic of childhood with irony, humor, and more than a little magic of its own. Now, thanks to the theme sketchbook of David Paggi, we can see the dynamic duo of everyone’s favorite little boy and tiger as seen through the eyes of comics artists ranging from Farel Dalrymple (“Omega the Unknown”) to Jim Woodring (“Frank”).
