Shrimpenstein

shrimpenstein

There was a time when local TV stations created original content for their cities. With national broadcasting, stations found little need to do local shows. Many cities throughout North America created unique shows such as Shrimpenstein. Shrimpenstein aired on KHJ channel 9 in LA from 1966 to 1968. The opening theme was sung by Dr. Von Schtick .(a cheap knock-off of Boris Karloff and the Tijuana Bats) Shrimpenstein the puppet was created by special effects wiz Wah Ming Chang, better known for his Star Trek work. The same man that gave us Tribbles. The hosts of the show were Gene Moss (Dr. Von Schtick) and Jim Thurman (voices). Besides the bad acting on Shrimpenstein the scary part about this series was the nonchalant use of guns on a show for kids.
