The much-anticipated third season of The Lincoln Lawyer has officially returned to Netflix, bringing back the captivating legal drama adapted from the bestselling novels of acclaimed author Michael Connelly. This new season promises to deliver even more courtroom suspense, intricate cases, and the ethically complex journey of defense attorney Mickey Haller as he maneuvers through the high-stakes legal landscape of Los Angeles. Viewers can expect a deeper exploration of Haller’s personal and professional life, filled with unexpected legal twists and emotional resonance, making it a must-watch for both fans of the genre and devoted readers of Connelly’s work.
For those who love The Lincoln Lawyer, another Connelly adaptation on Prime Video, Bosch, is also a fantastic series. Both shows are based on the same universe, as Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch are half-brothers in the books. While the two characters meet in Connelly’s novels, it’s exciting to think about the possibility of seeing both actors on screen together in future episodes—how amazing would that crossover be? As a fan of both book series, it’s thrilling to see how these beloved characters could intersect on television.
The Lincoln Lawyer novel was first brought to the big screen in 2011 with a film adaptation of the same name, starring Matthew McConaughey as defense attorney Mickey Haller and Marisa Tomei as Maggie McPherson. The movie received positive reviews for McConaughey’s charismatic portrayal of the morally complex lawyer.
On June 25, 2019, it was announced that David E. Kelley, known for his work on legal dramas like Ally McBeal and Boston Legal, had developed and written a television adaptation of the Lincoln Lawyer series, with CBS committing to the project. However, on May 2, 2020, CBS decided not to move forward with the pilot.
Undeterred, Netflix picked up the rights to the show and officially ordered a 10-episode season of The Lincoln Lawyer on January 11, 2021. Kelley remained attached to the project, continuing his involvement in adapting the legal thriller for a streaming audience. This transition from CBS to Netflix ultimately proved successful, allowing the series to reach a global audience and bring Mickey Haller’s complex legal battles to life on a much larger scale.
