It is 1972 rock and roll is in peak form. Some of the biggest bands are churning classics out of the rock and roll machine. You know you are in trouble when you call yourself Big Star as a band. Then you release your first album and call it “#1 Record.” Big Star is one of those bands that disappeared in the annals of music history. If not for this group, bands like Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Replacements, R.E.M. and the Bangles might not have existed. Big Star is a band storied with miscues and misfortune. They were never a big star and never had a number one record.
