New Smurf Movie

The official trailer for the Smurf movie hit the net and the reactions are very negative for the Americanized version of the Peyo classic. The Smurfs are transported to present day New York as apposed to the medieval setting we are used to. Some have gone as far to suggest that the video is viral and flagged as a fake video. Clearly this movie will be merchandise driven by the popular little action figurines that sell very well in Europe. Will the movie replicate the same success in North America? Maybe in Canada where the characters are well received in French quarters were Peyo along with other popular European comic book characters enjoy the same type of fame as they do abroad in France. The early negative reaction will not strengthen the careers of this hapless cast of third rate voice actors such as Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Paul Reubens, George Lopez and Jonathan Winters.
