
50 years ago in January 1973, a major album made its debut. The Incredible Bongo Band “Bongo Rock” played a significant role in hip-hop history.ย The song Apache would become the most sampled song from that album. Its long percussion break has been sampled countless times on hip-hop and dance tracks since the 1980s. If you are not into hip-hop, you will instantly recognize the beat or at some time heard in one song or another. Bongo Rockย was featured in Robert Dimery’s bookย 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
