The delicate balance of nature is being tested with the demise of million of bats in North America due to white mold syndrome. Bats mostly feed on insects and this could be troublesome for wheat and apple crops that depend on bats feeding on insects that potentially destroy plant life for their own survival. If bats numbers keep dwindling this it could be serious trouble for world economies. Already being taxed by other factors, the economy doesn’t need more help from nature to tip the delicate situation being faced today. The white mold syndrome poses no threat to humans but the equilibrium of the food chain might put many other organisms at risk.
