I was deeply saddened to hear of Brian Wilsonโs passing today at the age of 82. It’s a strange and beautiful thingโhow someone youโve never met can shape your world so profoundly. Through books, films, and especially music, certain individuals leave a mark on your soul. Brian Wilson was one of those rare voices who did just that.
His impact on the world of music was nothing short of transformative. He didn’t just write songs; he redefined what music could beโlayered, emotional, innovative, and deeply human. His genius elevated pop into art, yet behind the brilliance was a man often haunted by inner turmoil. Fame cast both light and shadow on him and his family, exposing personal struggles that many endure silently.
The golden days of the Beach Boys felt like sunlight caught in a bottleโbrief, radiant moments that rose with the tide and eventually slipped back into the vast ocean of memory. Though Brian is no longer with us in body, the music he gave the world continues to echo, timeless and eternal.
Thank you, Brian, for the harmonies, for the vulnerability, and for giving the world something so deeply beautiful. Your waves will never stop crashing on our shores.
