CAKE is back with a new single. They are no strangers doing cover versions. Their unique spin on classics such as Gloria Gaynor’s song “I Will Survive” and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” take the songs to new levels of musical interpretation. โAge of Aquarius” is no different, we certainly need an upbeat tune.
CAKE has unveiled a dazzling new version of the psychedelic classic โAge of Aquarius,โ, which will be available as a limited edition 7โ gatefold physical single, pressed in red, white, blue and yellow.

โAge of Aquariusโ which was written for the landmark 1967 musical Hair by James Rado and Gerome Ragni (lyrics) and Galt MacDermot (music) โ is paired on the new 7โ single with CAKEโs extraordinary 2018 protest anthem, โSinking Shipโ. All proceeds from โSinking Shipโ were donated to Doctors Without Borders.
Fun Fact: Unknown to most of their fans, the band CAKE is named after the verb, not the noun. Rather than referring to the desert, the band says the name refers to the point “when something insidiously becomes part of your life. We mean it more as something that cakes onto your shoe and is just sort of there until you get rid of it.”
