Captain Underpants More Offensive Than Fifty Shades of Grey

If you had a kid in the past 16 years, there is a possibility that nestled in your house you will find a copy of Captain Underpants. The Dav Pilkey creation series tops the American Library Association’s list of the past year’s “most frequently challenged books.” It’s good to know that Captain Underpants is more offensive than Fifty Shades of Grey, which also made the list. The books are not on the ban list but are close to it.

   Reasons: Homosexuality, offensive language, religious viewpoint, sexually explicit

   Reasons: Offensive language, sexually explicit, unsuited for age group

1. Scary Stories (series), by Alvin Schwartz
   Reasons: Unsuited for age group, violence

1. The Glass Castle, by Jeanette Walls
   Reasons: Offensive language, sexually explicit
