This rendition of “Eruption” is electrifying! Musician Nina DiGregorio, a virtuoso from the band Femmes of Rock, delivered a phenomenal cover of Eddie Van Halen’s legendary guitar solo from “Eruption,” but with a unique twist. She performed it on a custom 7-string fretted electric violin, showcasing both technical prowess and creative innovation. Her mastery and energy bring a fresh, contemporary edge to this classic rock piece. Move over, Paganini, and send word to Tchaikovsky—there’s a new maestro in the spotlight, and she’s redefining what it means to be a badass violinist in the modern age!
My journey to learn Eruption began a few years ago when I only had access to a 5-string fretless violin….I wanted to sound like Eddie. Thus began my journey with the 7-string fretted violin. Pretty much the entire reason for having this instrument custom-made (thanks to the Wood Violins crew!) was to see if I could play Eruption.
