Google to Announce Music Service

Google music, is it possible? Leading tech sites are reporting that Google is ready to launch the equivalent of iTunes in the United States. Google is already in the music business in China since 2008 and are now ready to do the same for the rest of the world. Declining music sales of actual CD format are crippling sales and the juggernaut Google might increase sales and also nip at Apple profits at the same time. Nobody knows exactly the details of the new service. In China it seems the music is free. That is something that would not fly here because of copyright violations. The name “Google Audio” is circulating as the official name of the name service.

Specific details are pretty sparse right now, but the name “Google Audio” has been mentioned. Whether this is a free streaming music service or paid-for download service is not known and we can only look to Google’s past music ventures to hazard a guess.
