Hallmark Unveils Its New 2024 Christmas Film Schedule

As late September rolls in, it’s time to brace for over two months of non-stop Christmas cheer from Hallmark. The beloved network has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024 holiday movie lineup, featuring an impressive 47 films set to air across both of its cable channels and its newly rebranded streaming service, Hallmark+. This festive season promises to be bigger than ever, with Hallmark executives sharing their excitement about upcoming changes to the streaming platform. In addition to a fresh slate of holiday originals, there are plans to eventually bring some of the exclusive streaming content to the network’s traditional “linear” TV channels. With a mix of cozy new films and expanded viewing options, Christmas lovers are in for a treat!

Alongside its slate of new holiday movies, Hallmark is also introducing exciting original TV shows, including Finding Mr. Christmas, an eight-episode reality competition series. According to Variety, this show will feature ten aspiring actors vying for the coveted lead role in an upcoming Hallmark holiday film. The stakes are high, as the winner will land the starring role opposite Jessica Lowndes in the original movie Happy Howlidays, set to premiere on December 21 on the Hallmark Channel. This new reality series adds a fresh twist to Hallmark’s seasonal lineup, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the casting process, with the magic of Christmas still at the heart of it all.

Hallmark+ is set to debut two brand-new limited series on its streaming platform this holiday season. First up is Mistletoe Murders, an adaptation of the popular Audible series. According to Variety, the show centers around a Christmas-themed gift shop owner who finds herself entangled in a mystery when her close friend is accused of murder, blending the festive cheer of the season with a suspenseful whodunit.

The second series, Holidazed, offers a heartwarming and diverse look at community life, following six different families from various backgrounds, all residing on the same cul-de-sac. Each family brings their unique holiday traditions and challenges, creating a tapestry of interconnected stories filled with laughter, love, and seasonal joy. These new series expand Hallmark+’s offerings, delivering something fresh for both mystery lovers and those looking for feel-good holiday entertainment.

Hallmark holiday movies usually take place in a picturesque, oh-so-generic small town in America where every street corner looks like it was plucked from a Christmas card. But here’s the twist: most of these heartwarming, feel-good flicks are filmed in Canada! That’s right—while the plot may revolve around snow-laden streets and cozy coffee shops, the real stars are the charming Canadian suburbs, especially those around Vancouver. Cities like Langley, Maple Ridge, and Squamish have become the unlikely royalty of the Hallmark movie empire, playing host to a veritable avalanche of holiday films. So next time you’re watching a holiday romance unfold, remember: that quaint little town where love blossoms over gingerbread lattes? It’s probably just a set in Canada, where the only thing more abundant than snow is maple syrup and friendly moose!
