DC Comics has officially announced MAD About DC, a 64-page comic book one-shot arriving April 1, 2026, perfectly timed to embrace its irreverent, tongue-in-cheek spirit. Guest-edited by acclaimed writer and artist Chip Zdarsky, the project is paired with a promotional video and delivers a bold, comedic twist on the DC Universe.
Created in collaboration with the legendary MAD Magazine, MAD About DC brings together an all-star roster of talent, including Matt Fraction, Gail Simone, Skottie Young, and DC Editor-in-Chief Marie Javins. The result is a sharp, 64-page anthology packed with satire, parody, and visually inventive storytelling that lovingly pokes fun at DC’s most iconic characters.
“MAD About DC” fully embraces the classic MAD-style humor, delivering a playful yet biting take on superheroes through comedic stories and art. As Zdarsky joked, “They say at DC there’s nowhere to go but down after writing Batman, and, yeah, it’s true. It’s very true.”
According to Marie Javins, the project captures exactly what makes MAD Magazine so enduring: fearless satire paired with a deep understanding of its subject. By bringing together creators who know these characters inside and out, MAD About DC delivers a sharp, surprising, and gleefully chaotic parody that both celebrates and skewers the DC Comics universe. To top it off, the release is accompanied by a parody video that perfectly extends the joke beyond the page, making the entire rollout feel like one big punchline that lands.
