The original superhero, the one who started it all, is making a triumphant return. After countless false starts, Superman is back! Warner Bros. has placed the immense responsibility of revitalizing this iconic character on James Gunn, the creative mind behind Guardians of the Galaxy. Charged with steering Superman to new heights, Gunn’s involvement signals a fresh and exciting chapter for the Man of Steel.
“It’s the choices we make that define who we are, not our abilities.”
Following months of teases and behind-the-scenes glimpses, the wait is finally over. The first trailer for the new Superman movie has arrived, and it’s nothing short of thrilling. In true James Gunn fashion, the film promises a captivating blend of epic action, sharp humor, and heartfelt moments. Gunn reimagines Superman for the newly unified DC Universe, crafting a character who embodies compassion and an unshakable belief in humanity’s potential for good.
Titled simply Superman, this is DC Studios’ debut feature film under its revamped vision, and it’s set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures. As a lifelong Superman fan, I couldn’t be more excited for this release. Superman has always held a special place in my heart, but if there’s one thing I hope this movie skips, it’s the endlessly repeated origin story. Let’s face it—we all know the tale of Krypton’s last son and his Kansas upbringing as well as we know Batman’s tragic backstory. It’s time to move forward and explore fresh, dynamic storytelling.

The film stars David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” movies, “Juror #2”) as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (“For All Mankind”), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry,” “Gotham”), Nathan Fillion (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “The Suicide Squad”), Isabela Merced (“Alien Romulus”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza,” “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”), Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”) and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).
Without further ado, here’s the highly anticipated trailer for the new Superman. Let’s see what James Gunn has in store for the Man of Tomorrow!
“Superman” will be in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025.
