New York city is on my mind this week as will the rest of the world as we remember 9/11. Denys Wortman’s New York: Portrait of the City in the 30s and 40s is a distant memory. The city of innocence is no longer, it is more diverse and complicated. Many more stories have been added since then. Some happy and many more sad till that crispy September 11, ten years ago. There are many trying to capitalize on the tragedy of that day. From conspiracy theorists to publishers releasing 911 coloring books. Let’s take a moment of silence and remember New York City as the gateway of all countries that bring the good and the bad with them. New York City is the epitome of humanity’s offering to the rest of the world. It’s a different world from 10 years ago. Greed and wealth has taken over Wall Street as the rest of the nation bleeds in despair. We look for hope in the wake of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Let us not forget this day when mothers and fathers went to work and never came back home that evening on September 11th.
