Have you ever been searching for something new to watch on Netflix and stumbled upon a hidden gem? That’s exactly what happened when I found Nobody Wants This, a series that quickly became my latest obsession. Starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, this show instantly made me feel warm and happy inside. It’s a delightful example of how opposites attract.
The series has been picked up for a second season, and while I’m hopeful, I also have that little worry in the back of my mind that they won’t mess it up. So much about the show just works. Season 1 wrapped with a heartwarming moment: Rabbi Noah (played by Adam Brody) and podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) shared a romantic kiss in a parking lot after a bat mitzvah—because nothing says classic rom-com like a bat mitzvah parking lot kiss, right?
Even though their love faces plenty of challenges, especially with the cultural and religious differences between them, Netflix has renewed the Erin Foster-created series for another season, leaving plenty of room to dive deeper into those issues. In Season 1, their connection developed quickly, but the fact that Joanne isn’t Jewish created a serious hurdle for Noah, given his role as a rabbi. Joanne even considered converting, but realized she wasn’t quite ready for such a major commitment. It seemed like their love story might end there, but Noah’s grand romantic gesture in the parking lot made it clear that he wasn’t willing to give up on them—and, thankfully, neither was she. Now, with Season 2 on the horizon, there’s so much potential to explore how these two navigate their differences and their love.
