Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino has become one of my favorite movies. I stayed away from it when I heard it was about Charles Manson. This is a bromance movie between two guys who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and alter history in 1969. I can honestly say this movie has soft spots that only Quentin can deliver in his own way. It has all the standard trappings you are used to by the director with an envigored new sense of maturity. It is a send-off to a Hollywood he knew as a child that was ready to explode around 1969 with the Manson killings. Ironically the killings were literally the Masons who get killed in this version of events. (spoiler) Just let yourself go and get immersed in an innocent time where things were less complicated yet ready to explode all around. Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood (Limited Edition Steelbook) is a great addition to this great cinematic tale that contains extras.
Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features “one of the greatest casts of all time”—including Robbie, Julia Butters, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, Austin Butler, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern and Al Pacino—and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age.
A story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton, former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth. Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a new next-door neighbor, who may be a rising star…Sharon Tate.
