Most of North American jobs are being outsourced in India and China. Why not outsource surrogate motherhood? Indian girls are the latest in outsourcing business as developed countries are turning to India for rent-a-womb programs for couples either too busy to have children or not able to have them. The rent-a-womb business is toned down by some as “commoditisation of motherhood” to avoid any stigma attached to surrogate mothers who are paid a fraction of compensation for carrying a baby full term. With government loopholes, India is a breeding ground for surrogacy. Recently new legislation was drafted to protect surrogates and babies who find themselves stranded as passports cannot be validated by foreign countries.
