The classic Grimm’s fairy tale “Rapunzel” has been rechristened as “Tangled” because of Disney’s last movie, “The Princess and the Frog” which was a death knell at the box office with the princess title that turned boys away from the movie. An Errol Flynn-styled male lead was injected into the girl-centric Rapunzel movie. Disney’s top animated movies of past generations always were of girl power leads with the prince type as second banana. That formula had to be tinkered with a bit to be a movie that the whole family can enjoy. Seems Rapunzel is a bit like the Marvel character Medusa of the Inhumans with hair that can tangle her foes into submission. No need to sue, Marvel was bought out by Disney. Now that would be a tangled mess.
