Sometimes going green has drawbacks. Recompute has a brilliant idea about recycling computers. The basic frame is all cardboard recyclable, but it’s one ugly computer. Not something to put on your desktop. It’s a savior of the environment.
Recompute will gather many awards but design will not be one of them. This green computer is practical for nature but image wise is one ugly contraption to look at. According to the manufacturers the cardboard is heat resistant and use a pizza box as an example of how much heat cardboard can take.
Recompute is a Full Life Cycle Designed desktop computer that addresses sustainability during manufacturing, usage and disposal stages of its life. The project originated as a student thesis work in Industrial Design at the University of Houston.
