Happy Anniversary Fred. You don’t look a day over 50. The television animated sitcom ran from September 30, 1960 to April 1, 1966 on ABC. Warner Brothers the owners of the Hanna-Barbera catalog have no significant mention of the milestone. What gives? The Flintstones were the pioneer animated cartoon that put animation on the television map. Have a yabba dabba doo celebration Fred!
Fred and Wilma Flintstone were previously going to have the last name “Flagstone”, until Hanna-Barbera received threats from Flagston, the name of the couple in the comic “Hi and Lois.” Fred and Wilma also briefly had the last name “Gladstone” before “Flintstone” was settled upon.
