I find great delight in observing the diverse approaches that fellow artists employ when taking on various creative tasks. “The Tools Artists Use ” is an insightful blog that delves into the unique methodologies employed by artists from various backgrounds in their creative endeavors. This captivating blog is curated by none other than Bill Turner, who draws inspiration from his book, “An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration from the Private Sketchbooks of Artists, Illustrators, and Designers,” and his earlier blog, “Comic Tools.”
Bill’s blog is a veritable treasure trove of information directly from the artists themselves. It not only offers valuable insights into their creative processes but also presents a feast for the eyes, making it an invaluable resource for both aspiring artists and seasoned professionals. This fascinating resource allows readers to gain a deeper understanding of the artistic journey and provides a wellspring of inspiration for those who wish to embark on their creative endeavors.
Fast forward to December of 2008 and I picked up the book An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration from the Private Sketchbooks of Artists, Illustrators and Designers where the same types of questions were being asked of artists of all kinds. Although almost all the art in the book was focused on the notebooks of the artists featured, it showed me how many ways an artist can express themselves with a wide variety of tools.
