Toys “R” Us, once thought to be a relic of the past, is making a remarkable comeback. Though the brand filed for bankruptcy a few years ago and shuttered its stores across the United States, it has remained operational in Canada. Now, Toys “R” Us is experiencing a revival that goes beyond just reopening stores—it’s stepping into the realm of entertainment with a reality TV competition series.
According to Deadline, Fox Alternative Entertainment is developing Toys “R” Us Family Faceoff, a show that brings the beloved toy store to life in an exciting new way. This reality competition will feature families battling it out in a supersized, “larger-than-life” version of the iconic toy store. The series will also incorporate classic toy brands, weaving nostalgia and playful challenges into the competition. It’s a creative spin that aims to reconnect audiences with the joy and excitement that Toys “R” Us represents, proving that the brand is far from forgotten.
“Toys “R” Us Family Faceoff represents an evolution of the family-friendly competition genre, appealing to fans who love the iconic toys and games we all grew up with…and some new ones, as well,” said Allison Wallach, Head of Unscripted at Fox Entertainment Studios. “Add to that Toys “R” Us at the center of it all, with larger-than-life challenges that integrate the world’s most favorite toys and games, it will be an hour of fun for the whole family.”
