Biff Bam Pow

Some of the best work is not necessarily coming from the big two power-houses in the comic industry. Sure manga has a stranglehold on the industry not the best in quality in my opinion. Then along comes this little book with no fanfare from Slave Labor Graphics, with the coolest name and cool art to boot. An anthology of sorts that collects stories scattered here and there and Nutsy Monkey from Nickelodeon magazines of the past. A true venture into new uncharted ideas. There are so many versions old old re-hashed heroes we can take. Breath the air. Take a whiff of something new from Biff Bam Pow as creators Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer do their best to entertain us.

The latest from the House of Fun is an action and humor anthology jam-packed with all the things that make the universe go ’round – superheroes, monsters, monkeys, and the neverending battle between the good, the bad, and the stupid. Biff! Things kick off with controversial Interstellar Anyweight Champ One-Punch Goldberg, and how she left the mob-run boxing world to become a full-time crime-fighter. Bam! Kid Blastoff locks up against Smartypants, the villain with a Thinking Cap that makes his every moronic thought real (and really dangerous). Pow! Sibling rivalry gets out of hand in ‘Billy vs. Super-Rad!’ 13-year-old Billy can’t stand his older brother, a beloved jock superhero, so he sets out to become his #1 arch-enemy! All this and a Nutsy Monkey gag strip from the pages of Nickelodeon Magazine. Pow! Pow! Pow!
