General Mills and Jim Henson Company Give Monsters Cereal a Fuzzy Makeover for Halloween 2025
First Star Trek: Strange New Worlds goes full felt with a Muppet-style episodeโฆ and now this? Are we living in the golden age of puppetry? Is the Jim Henson Company secretly staging a foam-and-fleece coup? Someone alert Statler and Waldorf (Muppet Show old guys)โbecause the Monsters Cereals just got a Muppet makeover.
This Halloween, spooky nostalgia gets a cuddly twist as General Mills teams up with The Jim Henson Companyโcelebrating its 70th anniversaryโto give Count Chocula, Boo Berry, and Franken Berry a monstrously magical makeover. Thatโs right: your favorite sugary specters are being reimagined as full-on Muppets, and frankly, theyโve never looked more huggableโฆ or haunting.
And yes, we do need answers: Is Count Chocula related to the Count from Sesame Street? Are they long-lost cousins from the crypt? Will they meet over a friendly game of โWho can count to infinity first?โ Time will tell.
Fleece, Fangs & Frooty Fun
The amusing transformation includes the release of a limited-edition fuzzy Franken Berry cereal box, available exclusively at Walmart.com forโwait for itโ$7.70 on Tuesday, October 7. The box is designed to feel like the soft, plush Muppets themselves, thanks to a fleece-like, soft-touch finish thatโs more snuggly than spooky. Think of it as the cereal box equivalent of a warm Muppet hug.
Collectors, Halloween fanatics, and Henson-heads alike will want to get their hands on this tactile treatโbefore it vanishes like Boo Berry at dawn.

Monsters, Now with More Muppet
Starting in August, cereal aisles across the country will feature new Muppet-style packaging of the classic Monsters, with bold, dimensional designs that pop, as if theyโre about to sing a spooky show tune. Flip the box to peek behind the curtain and discover how Jim Hensonโs Creature Shop worked its puppeteering magic to reimagine these cereal mascots as part of their monstrous legacy.
Itโs not just a makeoverโitโs a Monsterverse upgrade.

โFor 70 years, The Jim Henson Company has brought some of the worldโs most memorable and adored characters to life and our incredible team at Jim Hensonโs Creature Shop especially enjoyed realizing these beloved Monsters as puppets for the first time ever,โ said Nicole Goldman, Executive Vice President of Branding for The Jim Henson Company. โThis irreverent and funny take on these well-known characters will make this Halloween especially memorable for the amazing and loyal fans of both Monsters Cereals and The Jim Henson Company.โ
From 1971 to Puppet Paradise
Since their debut over 50 years ago, the Monsters have been delivering spooky breakfast joy to generations. Now, theyโve leveled upโjoining the Henson family of lovable weirdos and proving that even vampires, ghosts, and pink Frankensteins can thrive with a little felt and a lot of flair.
Credit where itโs due: Imagine Entertainment was the creative brain behind this collaboration, connecting the dots between cereal icons and puppet pioneers. Their team helped guide the creative vision and oversaw the filmed puppet content.
Soโฆ Muppet Borgs on the Enterprise, and now fuzzy Monsters in your cereal bowl? This fall, breakfast isn’t just the most important meal of the dayโitโs the most puppet-powered. Long live spooky snacks and squishy monsters!
