Lament for the Paperboy

Evidence that the paperboy is out like the dodo bird. Many of us, including myself had a paper route. Just to scrape a few bucks here and there was hard toil for a youngster. The hours were lousy as were the benefits. It taught us business sense. It’s sad to see the paperboy disappear along with the newspaper. In ten years, the paper route will be a thing of the past. Peter Hartlaub is back on the road for one last time as a paperboy. He climbed the proverbial ladder to become a writer at the San Francisco Chronicle from his humble beginnings as a paperboy. He ponders the future of the newspaper and his own future in the industry. Not a glamorous job at all.
