Cheerios was created on May 1st, 1941. Like many cereals from the era, they all had their mascots that originated from either a house brand mascot or the latest hit with kids. Cheerios started off as Cheerioats, and the Lone Ranger was one of the earliest character to grace cereal boxes to drive sales. Cheeri O’Leary, was introduced in 1942.
