Before you kick the bucket be careful how you plan your will. When Jim Morrison abandoned his mortal coil, his worldly possessions were passed to his girlfriend Pamela Courson provided she lived 3 months after his death. She did with a few days more to spare. Her parents cashed in the Doors megabucks.
“The Doors lead singer’s will provided that his entire estate would pass to his girlfriend, Pamela Courson, provided she survived him by three months. If this “primary beneficiary” didn’t survive him, then his property would instead pass to his brother and sister, his “secondary beneficiaries.” Well, his girlfriend did survive Morrison by three months, but not much more than that. And when she died, Morrison’s property all passed to the girlfriend’s parents –- not to his parents or brother and sister.” (source)
