Empire magazine released an exclusive pic of Namor for the new Black Panther movie. Namor will be played here by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta. Comic fans know that Namor has pointy years. Oridinary movie-goers are used to Mr. Spock having pointy ears. Namor looks like a fish out of water. Namor is Marvel’s oldest superhero, he was created in 1939. In his first appearance, Namor was an enemy of the United States. I don’t know, Aquaman has the cool factor going for him right now. The battle of the seas is up for grabs! Did anybody alert Patrick Duffy?

Namor was created by writer-artist Bill Everett. The character first appeared in April 1939 in the prototype for a planned giveaway comic titled Motion Picture Funnies Weekly, which was produced by the comic book packager Funnies Inc.

For comics fans, it’s a chance to finally see one of the longest-running Marvel characters finally take to the big screen – though there were initial plans for Namor to be teased a few years ago. “Ryan had a pitch for a tag at the end of Black Panther,” Marvel boss Kevin Feige reveals. “The camera would push through the palace in Wakanda, and then we’d see wet footprints leading up to the throne.” Get ready for the ultimate clash of kingdoms.
