The Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary Tour Blu-ray

    British label Kaleidoscope Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray The Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary Tour. The two-disc set will be available for purchase on November 7th.

    Mike Oldfield was19 YEARS OLD when he created this masterpiece! And he played nearly everything himself in the original recording!

    Filmed at the world-famous Royal Festival Hall over three ground-breaking nights, this is a magical concert that is not to be missed.

    This all-new contemporary masterpiece incorporates the beauty of the original music with dance and acrobatic feats that create not only a visual spectacle but also a musical tour-de-force.

    The show also includes performances of Moonlight Shadow, Mike Oldfield’s most significant single hit, along with Summit Day, from his Guitars album, and The Gem, a new work by Musical Director Robin Smith.

    Tubular Bells, one of the iconic musical works of the 20th Century, and the highest-selling instrumental album of all time is approaching its 50th anniversary. This epic new stage production has been commissioned that re-invents the album with an incredible cinematic score, live musicians, and performers.

    Tubular Bells Live Performance on BBC TV “BBC TV 2nd House Performance”: live-in-the-studio performance for the BBC, filmed on 30 November 1973, originally broadcast on BBC2 on 1 December, with a cast including Oldfield, his brother Terry (flute), Fred Frith (and other members of Henry Cow), Steve Hillage, Pierre Moerlen, Tom Newman, Mike Ratledge, Mick Taylor, Karl Jenkins and others. It includes a new part for the oboe.
