War of Words: Books vs E-Books

The war is on and there are already casualties. The big book chain stores are already feeling the pinch. Pink slips are being handed out to Borders and Barnes and Noble employees as fewer books are being sold. They both have their own e-reader but they are not the Kindle or the iPad. The clear winner in all of this is you and me. If the word is more important to you, then the format does not matter. The potability of the e-reader is a logical a choice. This infograph crunches the numbers for the reader, the publisher and the writer. The numbers changed in the past six months since the infograph. There might be a few writers who think that they are getting a smaller royalty check with their e-reader edition of the book. Depending on the downloads they can increase their take, however some might want to detach themselves from a publisher and go solo and reap a bigger payday. The e-reader might liberate many writers from their publisher and Amazon and Apple can easily give a writer a wealthier alternative in the future.
