From 1971 till 2001 Dennis the Menace was the poster boy for Dairy Queen. The company dropped the character because they felt he no longer represented the youth culture. The demise of this campaign in many ways hurt the strip. Be it irrelevance or just corporate greed, I miss the old Dennis character sprawled on Dairy Queen products. I hate the generic brand logos on their products today. They are lacking that panache in advertising. Kids and ice-cream go hand in hand. Dennis the Menace is as Americana as you can get on a hot summer day and the joys of youth.
