Here is an interesting study of maps that depict the origins of the countries of players from both baseball and hockey. Baseball might play for the World Series but most players are born in America. More kids in the eastern part of the United States take a shine to baseball. Hockey on the other hand is spread throughout the world with kids close to the 49th Parallel in both Canada and the States gravitating more to ice rinks.
