What do Axl Rose, Snoop Dog, Ashlee Simpson and Pope Benedict have all in common? They all work for Geffen Records, which is owned by Vivendi’s Universal Music Group. Pope Benedict’s is releasing an album called “Alma Mater” which will be available on November 30. It’s been ten years since a pope released an album, Pope John Paul released “Abba Pater” on Sony Classical Music in 1999. Don’t be surprised to see the album on iTunes, the pious one has a YouTube channel and Facebook account. No word of a Twitter account yet. Just in case “Alma Mater” is Latin for nourishing mother, or intellectual snobs using it to refer to the university or college a person attended.
